Freaky Friday the Musical - HOME, Manchester

Freaky Friday the Musical is a heartfelt, comedic, and unexpectedly emotional update on an American classic. It is based on the beloved 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, which have captured the hearts of generations, including the recently released sequel Freakier Friday.

When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again. By spending a day in each other's shoes, Katherine and Ellie come to appreciate one another's struggles, learn self-acceptance, and realise the immeasurable love and mutual respect that bond a mother and daughter.

Freaky Friday will be having its UK stage premiere this festive season at HOME Manchester, with the run already extending until 10 January 2026. This vibrant musical reimagines the iconic body-swapping tale with a fresh contemporary score and feel-good moments that are perfect for the whole family.

Starring Rebecca Lock as Katherine and Jena Pandya as Ellie, the cast also includes Ian Virgo, Samantha Ho, Beth Savill, Jessica Butterworth, Ellie Gilbert-Grey, Max Mirza, Morgan Gregory, Dylan Gordon-Jones, Waylon Jacobs, Tori Scott, Katharine Pearson, James Stirling and Catherine Millsom.

Presented by Paul Taylor-Mills, directed by Andy Fickman, with a book by Bridget Carpenter, music by Tom Kitt and lyrics by Brian Yorkey. The creative team features choreography by Alexzandra Sarmiento, set and costume design by David Shields, lighting by Nick Richings and musical direction by George Strickland.

The nearest Metrolink stop is Deansgate-Castlefield, a 5-minute walk (0.2 miles/320 metres) from HOME. Tickets can be purchased from machines at the stop. Deansgate-Castlefield is in Zone 1. Use the lift or stairs to exit to pedestrian level.


By bus

The 256 bus from Piccadilly Gardens stops on Medlock Street, with stops located approximately 50 and 150 metres from HOME’s entrance. From there, walk towards HOME, which is visible from the road.


You can also use the Free Bus service that connects major rail stations, shopping areas, and businesses in the city centre. Two circular routes operate from Piccadilly, Salford Central, Victoria, Oxford Road, and Deansgate train stations.


By car

The nearest car park is Q-Park at First Street. The pedestrian entrance is about 30 metres from HOME’s main entrance. Q-Park First Street has 28 accessible parking spaces. Please note that Blue Badges do not grant free parking.
